Earlier News from the Synthesis Commission

30-Apr-04	At the 14th IZC in Cape Town
	Outgoing Members
		Henri Kessler and Michael Stöcker retired from the Synthesis Commission at the 14th IZC. The Synthesis Commission thanks them for their contributions.
	The new officers of the Synthesis Commission are
		Stephen Wilson, Chairperson Karl-Petter Lillerud, Co-chairperson
	Recipes for MAPO-5 (AFI) and MAPO-11 (AEL) have been submitted
		but have not yet been verified.
25-Feb-02	At the 13th IZC in Montpellier
	Dr. Harry Robson
		announced that after many years of dedicated service to the IZA Synthesis Commission, he has chosen to retire. Dr. Robson has made numerous contributions to the field of zeolite synthesis and in particular, his efforts have resulted in the publication of the First and Second Editions of the Verified Syntheses of Zeolitic Materials. These publications represent a collection of verified syntheses of zeolitic materials that intend to assist researchers both new and experienced. Compilation of these editions is a major undertaking, demanding considerable dedication and a keen interest in synthesis. Not only have the products of his work provided a valuable resource to the international zeolite research community, they have built the foundation for future editions that will continue the tradition of his work. The IZA Synthesis Commission recognizes Dr. Robson's contributions and wishes him well in his "retirement".
	Nomination Committee
		The Synthesis Commission Nomination Committee members include Dr. Stacy Zones, Dr. Zelimir Gabelica, Prof. Kenneth Balkus. Nominees to be considered at the 14th IZC (April 2004 in Cape Town, South Africa) for the Synthesis Commission are invited and should be submitted to these members or to the Chair of the Synthesis Commission, Dr. Brian Schoeman.
	Outgoing Members
		Outgoing members of the Synthesis Commission are Dr. Harry Robson, Professor Ruren Xu, Dr. Gunter Kuhl and Dr. Juan Garces. The Synthesis Commission would like to thank these members for their contributions.
	Present Commission
		The members of the Synthesis Commission remains unchanged except for the retirement of the above named members and with the change that Dr. Brian Schoeman has assumed the chair of the commission and Dr. Stefan Ernst has assumed the position of co-chair.
	Corrections to the On-Line Web Edition of the Synthesis Commission pages
		A major effort has been made to update the on-line edition of the 2nd Edition of Verified Syntheses of Zeolitic Materials. Unfortunately, numerous difficult-to-detect errors might be present in the recipes. The procedures specified in these recipes are to be unambiguous, hence if errors are detected, please contact Dr. Brian Schoeman with the specific details so that the pages may be corrected. All assistance in this regard will be greatly appreciated.
